About

Hi, I’m Jun — Youngjun Kim, if we’re being formal — a dad living in Hanam, just east of Seoul, with my wife and our two kids, a son and a daughter (10 and 9 in Korean age).

I was born and raised in Korea, so this country isn’t a destination for me — it’s home. That’s exactly why I started Kid-friendly Korea. Most English travel content about Korea is written by visitors who came for a week or two, not by locals raising kids here. The day-to-day reality of finding a good kids cafe at 3pm on a rainy Saturday, or knowing which family hotel actually works for two energetic kids, is something we’ve learned the hard way.

Where we go

Most of our weekends are spent exploring family-friendly places around Hanam (including Misa), Songpa, Jamsil and Gangdong. We venture further on school holidays — recent trips include Busan, Jeju, and the east coast. The blog focuses on Seoul and the surrounding metropolitan area first, with occasional deeper dives elsewhere in Korea.

What you’ll find here

Real, hands-on guides about places we’ve actually visited with our kids:

  • Kids cafes and indoor play centers
  • Family travel destinations and activities
  • Family-friendly hotels, resorts, and camping spots

Restaurant reviews live on our sister site, Korea Food Trails. This site stays focused on places to go with kids.

What I won’t do

  • Promote places I haven’t been to
  • Hide sponsorship — when something is sponsored, it’ll be clearly marked at the top of the post
  • Use AI to fabricate experiences or invent details about places I haven’t visited

How the posts are written

I take the photos, keep the receipts and booking details, and decide what I thought of each place. An AI writing assistant helps me turn those notes and photos into English drafts. I read every draft before it goes up, compare prices, dates and details against my receipts, booking screens and official pages, and take out anything I cannot confirm.

A note on our photos

Every photo on this blog is taken by us during our actual visits. You’ll see real Saturday-afternoon kids-cafe chaos, real Sunday-morning hotel breakfast trays, and the occasional half-eaten cookie left on a museum bench. Nothing staged, nothing borrowed.
